Term 4 Week 1

Monday
We did not do much but Mr Chua went through the aspects of the EOY performances and more.. I think my group would do well if we put in more EFFORT as we have all we need but something seems missing in there, we will work on it and hopefull pass!
Thursday
It was the full dress rehearsals. Very quickly, Mr Chua briefed us little and gave us 10mins maximum to go and get dressed to start rehearsing. As we got back to say our lines, I felt that I was too soft. In the end, our director was not pleased with us and when one of our mememberrs suggested that we do it all over again, to be better, my director didn't agree to it as it was no point as we were already screwed up. I guess she said this as she was angry and wanted our group to do well. I felt very bad that I didn't do a good job at least. Sigh. I hope everyone gets to pass their EOY performances and hope it all works out well.

Term 3 Week 10

Monday

This Monday, we had our full Lit rehearsals for the R & J play. As an wardrobe IC I failed to bmake sure the costumes came on set for rehearsals. I apologise for that, i was told that i wouldn't need to bring them. But it's still my responsibility. Mr Chua wasn't happy about that but moved on. I think we shoul d have taken in the comments Mr Chua gave and work harder and better in the next performance rehearsal because 70% of this goes into our Finals! GOODLUCK! (:

Thursday

For lit today, we got back our results for the test as I've said, I scored 19/20 for the test which I'm pleased with (: And then Mr Chua spent the rest of the lessons showing us a video of R & J the movie. I thought the first scene ; party secene was funny with the loud music and all but soon came to realise the purpose and it was to create a vibrant atmosphere as it is a party after all. Then proceeded to the romantic scene where slow music was played to show the peaceful and serenity of the scene is what I felt. I hope our group improves on our performance! We can do it if we put our heart into the things we do (;
HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

Term 3 Week 9

Monday

This week was our common test week for Lit. And I felt that I didn't study properly on how to answer the questions related and I thought the paper was hard. But it was also things that we had learnt and went through before so I gave it my best shot. And when the results came in later, I was surprised to have scored 19/20! I guess I had the correct answers even tough I felt I didn't structure them properly :) I hope to do as well as this test for the upcoming ones too ^^ I hope you fellow classmates did well too! :)

Thursday

We were introcued to the topic on Famine but it isn't a new topic as it is spread among the world through news and everything. We were given a picture that showed a vulture and a hungered child. We had to tell the relationship between these two and how it relates to the play, 'The Mighty Mandarin'.

(this is the picture.)

My explanation: The vulture looks as if its satisfied with it's meal and the child is pained by hunger.

But I find my classmate's explanation better: The vulture is awaiting for the child to have him/her last breath to prey on him/her as it will die without eating for days as it looks.

I think Famine is a serious issue and that we should help others out there in the world such as setting up food shelters for hungered people. Yes..

Term 3 Week 8 thursday

As we began our lessons for the day, we were called by our names to check that we had our assigment that was due to be handed up was there. Apparently, one of us had taken somebody else's assignment & had it photo-copied. I think this is extremely cheap and having no integrity in themselves. Thus, Mr Chua decided to remove the assignment tray to avoid any more cases of these events as it would make others do so as well. I then got back my AYLT ws where I scored 11/15 for. I will produce better results in the future!

Term 3 Week 8 monday

On this day for LIT, Mr Chua and Mr Naz arrived into our class for leson. At first I thought that Mr Naz would be conducting the lesson together with Mr Chua there. Turns out that Mr Chua had to leave for something which he had on I guess. So he handed Mr Naz a Mighty Mandarin worksheet for us to complete by the end of the lesson. It was bascially about different emotions that relate to different characters from the play and we have to give the evidence to why we gave such points as per normal as we always do. Before Mr Chua left, he cleared our doubts of some of the words that were on the worksheet..As I began doing the worksheet, I encountered some difficulty as one of the questions was tough to figure out but I got it eventually. Hopefully I'll get good marks for this worksheet assignment :)

Term 3 Week 7

Thursday

It was our very first rehearsals for our LIt play, Romeo and Juliet. I must say it was a wee bit of success. We assembled @ the NCDCC Corner to rehease. As Mr Chua was briefing us on what to do, he also said that Wardrobe /Costume personals had to give feedback on the actors' performance. As we began to settle down in our groups, the main actors began to act out their scenes. As I watched, I took down the pros and cons of their acting and how they could improve on it. After that the director from our group asked about our comments & feedbacks and the actors took it seriously and improved little by little. As we were doing the second round of acting, Mr Chua asked us to wrap it up and gather back. He then discussed with us various things and answered questions that were asked. After that, we were told that we will have our next rehearsals next Thursday. So until then!

Term 3 Week 7

Monday
As you guys know, Monday was Singapore's 45th birthday, happy birthday! Another 5 years time, Singapore will be 50 years old! I'm going to share about NDP. Everyone in Singapore(except for me) headed down to the Padand to catch the parade. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to ): But its okay I got to watch it on TV so. I think the uniformed groups looked very smart in the
ir attire and the way they held themselves throughout the ceremony was well done. I saw that everyone watching the parade never failed to wear something red or white even the little ones were eager to wave their flags high with smiles. As the parade in the daylight started to end, the highlighting performnaces began. And proud to say, that EVG was involved in the Human LCD/One Voice Choir. Go EVGians! They performed tremendously and after months of hard work this paid off for them. Other highlights were of course the colourful fireworks which is probably what many people came to watch. And then we had our theme song, "Song for Singapore" performed by Corrine May. She has quite a music background from the States too. Overall, the NDP 2010 was great and hope you enjoyed it too! :D

Term 3 Week 6

Monday

On Monday, we had our lessons as per normal. This was the week that Mr Chua would be assessing our learning logs apparently. But first we got back our AYLT Worksheet, the second one. I wold I scored much better this time round and I am happy about it^^ We went through the various answers for the questions that we had gotten wrong for. Then after, our assessment on the logs were given out. I saw that mu=y name had been highlighted in blue. And I soon got to know that it was because I had not written down, the Term/Week information for each posts. So I will try not not to make that mistakes and have ammended them already :) So, I have learned what I have to do but some of us still did not updtate their blogs unfortunately to Mr Chua's disappointment. Keep working guys!

Thursday

So I was absent for this day and I've learnt that the class finished the 'The Mighty Mandrin' play. I did a little homeowrk on it to find out more about it. I found the play very interesting and more of a folk kind which I like to read most. I got a copy of the worksheet-homeowrk from Zaimah and have colpeted it. I shall wait for the next exciting lesson of Lit where we would be rehearsing for the very first time in public! ~

Term 3 Week 5

This Thursday we moved on to Scene 3 of AYLT. This was where I actually started taking notes in my ALYLT scene script. This will help me understand clearly next time. We discussed many things for example Elvis being very exaggerating when he says about something. I think that's difficult to understand. The way he uses his phrases to describe a situation. But overall, it was manageable :) I learned that Elvis was in deep pain, not physically but emotionally because of his loved ones leaving him again and again. But for once, he knows that Jesse will always be there with him and he has someone to turn to. He was in the US Army too when his mother had passed away. He porbably went there to promote his music and in music business, you can't just leave for anything but stick to the plans of your manager etc. Booked shows also can't be missed as you are a celebrity. A thing learned. And the drugs/pills he took were to escape the pain from everything e was going through at that point of time. I think that drugs will just add on to more problems and it is just harmful.

Term 3 Week 5

Monday
Well today I would say that Mr Chua was not happy with our class for Literature. Once again, a number of people didn't hand in their homework on time which was due last Thursday. Luckily I handed in mine earlier in the Lit tray. Mr Chua said we are responsible for our own deeds. We should be responsible for Lit lessons by handing in our assignments on time right? It would save time during lessons especially if time given is crucial. Moving on, we were given our our Lit assignment which is due next Monday on Scene 2 of AYLT. It would be an easy assignment if we had listen closely and absorbed the information given as we discussed these answers last week, I noticed. Also our very first Lit assignment of the Term was given back. The one that involved research in it. I think that I didn't do very well even though its a pass. I didn't answer some questions properly, thus leading to an average score. Nevermind that, "I will never say never" ;) Work harder, pay close attention! We discussed the various answers for the worksheet and then moved on to watch last year's performances on Merchant of Venice & Romeo and Juliet. I couldn't grasp the scene well as it was too soft to be heard from and I wasn't feeling that well either. But as Mr Chua said they did not have Debate Training programmes like us, we should be speaking louder than them. Goodluck people! :)

Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender

Term 3 Week 5

Monday
Ok so we proceeded on to Scene 2 of AYLT. BUT, not before thee usual round of questions hard and easy. We were called up and had to answer. Most of the questions were those that I managed to think of the answers. But I think if I were to be called, I wouldn't have managed to explain it further and properply. This calls for some practice! So in Scene 2 Mr Chua asked us if we knew what a chandelier was. It is basically a light ornament that you probably see in big houses for instance, mansions like Elvis's etc. i had a funny thought while discussing this: Imagine seeing one in an apartment or in our very own HDB flats!! Haha. Not a wonderful sight people. I also thought it was adorably nice and caring <3 of Elvis to say he'll place chandeliers everywhere in the house! Imagine. Then discussed on Elvis staring at the one and only Cadillac. Frankly, I don't think much of the Cadilac as it doesn't stir excitement to me. But a Mercedes would be something I bet :) Soo, be grateful to parents no matter what, they still LOVE YOU.

Thursday
Today, there was no Lit apparently. We had a relief teacher, Mr Amirul. My first impression of him was that he looked super tall! And sort of lanky, haha. Ok since there's nothing else, I'll talk about Elvis more? There are videos above too ;) Do you want to see Elvis young, old, handsome or depressed?

Younger?

elvis, his dad, his mom

Wedding?

they looked beautiful & stunning here! :>

Term 3 Week 4☮

For today. In Lit today, Mr Chua looked somber to me. We had a quick round of simple questions on AYLT. However, I did find some of the questions a little difficult to answer as I was thinking. I guess these would be the type of manipulative questions in the exams. Mr Chua is getting us prepared and ready for all! There were some who did not manage to answer it, but as said was a little tough. Moving on, on to Scene Two! With Younger Presley this time.

Term 3 Week 3

This week

(Monday)

So, we continued Elvis Presley! I find it interesting learning about him ;) It brings happiness I think. Something that obviously brings joy is music afterall. We got scolded but hey lets learn from our mistakes people. We had questions mostly basic ones that are related to the current play we're studying on, Are You Lonesome Tonight. I likeee. But so far, I've not been called out. Hmm? But I don't think that luck will last long! ~ Hehe. So then, we continued with the play and learnt even more, I'm being to like this. But back to Elvis, he is a good person deep down even though in the play, he seemed harsh and cold to people. But he does care for people, for example his fans right? Thats my opinion.

(Thursday)
Literature bright and early for the day! I would say this was a lesson that was much meaningful and all about thinking. No scolding by the way. Good huh. We got our brains tested by having Mr Chua asking our class, individually, questions on the play. Most of them found it difficult to answer the questions I noticed but keep trying the answer is always there! Mr Chua also noticed this, and to those that said "I dunno" were asked to THINK. It was a thinking moment for us. I did think and had my answer ready in case I were to called but I was not. But it gave the others an opportunity I'll say. After all that disscussion it felt like I was up for the next set of 'Inquiries' coming. :D Homework was distributed on AYLT. It is to be handed up next Monday. Put in the tray earlier to avoid any dlay and scoldings for tardiness from Mr Chua 2Dynamic! This will be a huge help in the future when you go to work righht? You cannot be late! The worst thing, first impression counts! Work on it (Y)

Term 2 Week 2

Last Monday there was no school as it was Youth Day, hope it was fun for all of you. Literature was missed. So, while we were at home, I thought about our groups for the drma play and was worried as many things had to be done and that I am a Wardrobe IC which makes me quite nervous to be doing most of the work. There blames also.

Young elvis

For Thursday, we finally started on the topic of Elvis Presley! It was a familiar name to me and I know that he was once the King of Rock & Roll. But here, we got to know even more^^ So basically, he's an american singer who became not-so famous because of weight issues and drug overdose. He used to be very popular, with the girls too I bet :D Anyway, did you know he was briefly married to a lady named Priscilla Beaulieu in 1967 but due to some problems they got divorced? Yes, they even had a daughter named Lisa Marie who married Michael Jackson for a short while. Well, I'm no MJ fan. I heard that he became bloated soon after, well its true anyway. I think that is a pity as he was the greatest rocking musician of Rock N Roll and 'his life got wasted. But I don't think he meant to do that. I presume he was under a lot of pressure. Poor you. But till, today many still love hime to the extreme and misses him. So remember, take care of your health & NEVER, I mean NEVER take drugs! ~

Term 2 Week 1

This will be my first post for Lit this term as I have deleted the past posts. So, last week we had Lit lessons on Mondays & Thrusdays with Mr Chua. This term we will be learning various plays and also, we have a big Shakespeare drama performance coming up. It is either based on 'Merchant of Venice' or 'Romeo and Juliet' (R&J) To be able to do this smoothly, we got seperated into different groups with names and mine was Bravo consisting of members: Zaimah, Ebony, Jalilah, Karenjit, Hui Jin, Wei Xiang, Huzaifah, Yu Zhen, Ding Hong, Hong Rong, Ramadhan. So we had to be playing each different roles in a play we chose. My group had chosen R&J as expected as we think it will be easy to handle (: I am in the wardrobe department for now. I have mixed feelings about this role as I'm not that sure I would be able to carry it out well, nervous! Also, in the past week we were given homework based on different roles in theatre production. I managed to find about all the roles on the internet as Mr Chua had said. So, we will have our next Lit lesson tomorrow. Till then! :D
